“My daughter Vanessa can finally speak and hear because of Dr. Berman!”
It’s very rare when you come across a physician that actually takes his time.
He’s not worried about the clock and he listens to what you have to say while you describe whatever your issues are. He’s very in-depth, very thorough and it was an excellent experience as far as I’m concerned. I’ve been through the wringer with doctors and clinics. 10 stars all the way:) I recommend him to everybody!!!

Dr. Helmen was truly awesome!
He took the time to listen to the frustration and issues I was having with my tinnitus and hearing. I never felt like he was in a hurry to get to the next patient, and felt like he really cared about my treatment and outcome, more than ANY specialist I’ve seen for this and any other medical problem I’ve encountered. I highly recommend him.

It was a pleasure to have an appointment With Dr.Perkins.
Her resume speaks for itself, and it is matched by her personality as demonstrated by her listening to, explaining to and making a plan for me, her patient. As a retired physician, I am sorry to say that this is not always demonstrated by younger physicians who as a result are missing out on the joy that comes from interpersonal reactions with their patients in addition to their tremendous technical skills.

Questions About Hearing Aids
What if I need a hearing aid?
Your Audiologist will discuss the type of hearing aid technology that is most appropriate for you, as well as the style (appearance) of the hearing aid. In most cases, your Audiologist will recommend using two hearing aids, as this will enable you to maximize your hearing potential. Use of two hearing aids assists in localization of sound, as well as providing a more “balanced” and natural sound quality.
How much do hearing aids cost?
Depending on the technology and style, the cost for one hearing aid ranges from approximately $900 to $4000. Your Audiologist will guide you in the selection of a hearing aid that is appropriate for your hearing loss and hearing needs.
Does it take a long time to get used to hearing aids?
Research has shown that it can take up to 2 years to fully realize the benefits of hearing aid use. Over time, your brain becomes used to listening to sound through the filter of a hearing loss. When hearing aid use begins, the brain takes time to re-learn what the sounds mean and how to use them. You should notice some improvement right away, with gradual improvement over time.
What are my responsibilities as a hearing aid user?
Especially in the initial stages, establishing good communication with your Audiologist is key. If there is a problem, let your Audiologist know right away so that it can be resolved promptly. Also, don’t be shy about asking questions if you don’t understand the use or care of the hearing aid.
It’s also helpful in the first few weeks of use to keep a diary of how you function with the hearing aid in certain situations. This will help your Audiologist in adjusting and fine tuning the hearing aids.
Most importantly, return for annual hearing evaluations and hearing aid checks. If a problem develops it can then be addressed quickly.
